I am Buki the founder of Bukis which creates and sell African print clothing and accessories. I grew up in a Nigerian household where I have always been surrounded by African print fabrics bursting with colours. Therefore, I would say that I was born with the love for colours.

In 2010 I went to visit my mum and found a sewing machine behind her sofa. My grandma, who was visiting from Nigeria, gave me a 30 minute lesson in between the commotion happening in the house on that day. That day, my love for sewing was born! Since then, I have continued to expand my sewing skills. Over the years I sew random things in my spare time and gifted my creations to friends, family, and colleagues, they loved the items I gave them.

For a long time, I felt like something was missing in my life, I wanted to spend more time doing what I love and sharing it with others. I also felt that although people loved colours, the use of it had reduced. Therefore in 2021 I took the plunge and started working on my brand, to share my culture and increase the use of colour in the western world.

It has been a roller-coaster journey, but I love what I do and love meeting new people especially other creators like me. Every time I create something I feel like I am giving part of my love, therefore I decided to call my shop Bukis. At Bukis, we aim to inject colours into your life by using colourful, vibrant African print fabrics to create fashionable items which would help you stand out from the crowd.
